Hi there, I'm Sofia

Project manager and parent. An expat based in Barcelona, Spain.

A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.

How It Started

Moving to Spain wasn't in the master plan. Like many expat relocations, it began with a work opportunity and soon grew into something far larger.

The early months were demanding—new processes, new rhythms, new assumptions. Everyday tasks seemed more challenging than expected.

The Adjustment Period

The initial period involved culture shock, ambiguity, and plenty of hands-on learning. Gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt solid.

Why I Built Rustic Root Studio

Most information online was either corporate relocation tips or shallow tourism material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.

This site aims to fill that gap with practical guidance drawn from real life in Spain.

What This Site Stands For (And What It Does Not)

This site is about:

  • Real-world insights from living in Spain
  • Centered on family life and day-to-day realities
  • Updated whenever a meaningful change occurs

This site is not:

  • An official tourism authority resource
  • A platform for sponsored reviews
  • Just another generic travel blog

Moving Forward

Our stay in Spain continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we uncover.

If you have questions about family life in Barcelona or anywhere in Spain, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Best regards,

Sofia
